Barn Dance Leader
Carl Ballou, also known as CBDanceman, is your dedicated leader in Family Barn Dances. Serving both Southern Oregon and Northern California within a 150-mile radius of Grants Pass, Carl ensures your special event is filled with laughter and dancing, whether it’s a community dance, a church social, a country-western themed party, or even a family reunion. “The Barn Dance isn’t just a dance; it’s a Celebration of Life and Family in America that I bring to your event, making every occasion unforgettable,” says Carl.
The Barn Dance is 1-2 hours long and starts with simple non-partner dances that anyone can do with brief instruction. Carl uses a wireless mic and demonstrates all dances from the center of the floor. Each new dance builds on the previous dance skills, and he adjusts the program to each.
No Partner or Experience Necessary! Fun for All Ages!
Basic contra, square dance, and circle figures are introduced, with couple, mixer, and non-partner dances included throughout the program. With 2 short breaks for refreshments and announcements, the dancing recommences with fun novelty dances such as the Hokey Pokey, Macarena, and Chicken Dance.
The Barn Dance is a unique activity that families and friends can do together! It is also perfect for a Father/Daughter (or Mother/Son) Themed Dances, providing a joyful experience that strengthens community bonds and celebrates cultural heritage through dance.
And the program concludes with the traditional Virginia Reel and Big Circle Dance, an all-time favorite.
The Barn Dance can also be a segment of the dance program at Special Events (weddings, proms, reunions, etc.) where CBDanceman provides DJ/MC services as well.

Remember when you had Square Dancing in school? It’s still lots of fun!
And if you are fortunate enough to still be “Shaking a Leg”, Carl is available to call Traditional and Modern Square Dance* Parties, complete with fun mixers, Country Line, and Novelty dances.
“Hoedown”, “Hootenanny”, “Shindig”, “Harvest Festival”, “Country-Western Party”—whatever you call it, Carl Ballou makes sure it’s a blast! Carl’s calls are clear, and his instructions are easy to follow, making everyone feel like part of the community.
